Symptoms

When to bring it in.

A squeal that turns into a grindThe wear indicator has been rubbing and the pad is now into the rotor. Sooner is cheaper than later.
The pedal goes soft or sinksAir or fluid loss somewhere in the system. This one does not wait — call before you drive it far.
It pulls to one side when you brakeUsually a sticking caliper or a collapsed hose on one corner.
A shudder in the steering wheelWarped or unevenly worn rotors, felt most at highway speed.
Clunks over bumps, or it wandersThat is suspension, not brakes — ball joints, links, struts or a tired control arm bushing.
Uneven tire wearThe front end is out or something is worn enough to let the wheel move. Worth a look before new tires.

Can you tell me whether the rotors can be reused?
Yes — that is a measurement, not a guess. If they are above spec and the surface is clean, they stay. If they are grooved or below spec, you get told why they are being replaced.
Do you do brakes on trucks and older cars?
Yes. Plenty of what comes through the shop is older, and drum brakes on the rear are no problem.
My car shakes at highway speed. Is that brakes?
If the shake shows up when you brake, it is usually rotors. If it is there all the time, it is more likely tires or a balance issue. Either way it gets checked before anything is sold to you.
Do I need an appointment?
