It slips under loadRevs climb, speed does not. Often fluid or pressure before it is anything worse.

Hard or delayed engagementA second of nothing before it grabs, or a bang into drive.

No reverseIt still goes forward but backs out of nothing. Worth checking straight away.

Shudder at a steady cruiseFrequently the torque converter clutch rather than the gearbox itself.

Red fluid on the groundA cooler line, a pan gasket or a seal. Low fluid is what turns a leak into a rebuild.

Clutch slipping on a manualPedal high, engine racing in top gear. Clutch, and sometimes the hydraulics with it.

Sometimes, and sometimes it is too late for that. It depends on what the fluid looks like and what the pressures say, which is why nothing gets promised over the phone.

Do you rebuild or replace?

Both routes exist, and which one makes sense depends on the vehicle and what is available. You get told the options rather than handed one.

Do you work on manuals too?

Yes — clutches, hydraulics and gearbox work on manual cars as well as automatics.

How long will my car be here?

Transmission work is not a same-day job in most cases. You will get a realistic window once it is diagnosed.
